The Rotary Club of Setia Alam, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Penang, proudly organized the Seeing Eye to Eye Conference (SEEC) — an initiative dedicated to raising awareness about blindness prevention and improving access to eye care.

Held at Sunway Medical Centre Damansara, the conference brought together healthcare experts, volunteers, and community partners to address vision health challenges faced by local communities, particularly among B40 families, children, and senior citizens.

A Community-Driven Effort

The need for this project was identified through direct engagement with residents and consultation with healthcare providers. Many families in the Damansara area were found to lack access to regular eye checkups or specialized care. Through partnerships with SEGI University, CROWN Worldwide Group, ZEISS, PERKESO, MiHRM, and SMC Damansara, the project was able to close critical gaps in vision care and workplace eye safety awareness.

Lasting Impact

The conference went beyond free eye screenings. It provided educational sessions on:

  • Workplace eye safety and blindness prevention

  • Proper lighting, screen time management, and protective eyewear

  • The importance of regular eye checkups for all ages

Through these efforts, SEEC empowered participants with practical tools to safeguard their vision while fostering a community-wide culture of preventive care.

Sustainability and Partnerships

The project’s long-term benefits are supported by sustainable collaborations. SEGI University’s optometry students and healthcare partners will continue to champion vision health initiatives in the community. The awareness created during SEEC is expected to ripple outward, encouraging more families to prioritize regular eye care.
