Rotary Club of Penang proudly hosted its 94th Presidential and Board of Directors Installation Dinner on August 9th, 2024, at JEN Penang Georgetown by Shangri-La. The event was a momentous occasion, celebrating nearly a century of service and leadership in the Penang community.
The evening began with a warm welcome from the outgoing President, Dr Amreet Gill, who reflected on the achievements of the past year and expressed gratitude to the club’s members for their unwavering support. The highlight of the night was the official installation of the new President, Carson Toh, who takes the helm with a vision of continuing the club’s legacy of service while introducing innovative projects, particularly in the area of eye care, to benefit the community.
Carson Toh, an optometrist by profession, emphasized the importance of accessibility to quality eye care services, especially for underserved populations. In his speech, he acknowledged the strong foundation laid by the senior members of the club and expressed his excitement about the future, where the club will work closely with other six clubs in Penang to maximize resources and impact.
The event also saw the induction of new members, Ms Hema and Dr. Beh, who were warmly welcomed into the Rotary family. Their commitment to service was celebrated, and their addition to the club promises to bring fresh energy and perspectives.
Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of charter certificates to the newly formed Rotaract Clubs of INTI Penang International College and Han Chiang University College. These clubs represent the next generation of leaders who are eager to contribute to the community under the Rotary banner.
The night was filled with camaraderie, inspiration, and a shared commitment to service above self. Rotary Club of Penang looks forward to another year of impactful projects and meaningful service, with the continued support of its members and the community.
